As marketing specialists in Bridgend we would like to share with you the three big secrets for promoting your business online in 2021.

While we are all trying to cope with the constant changes to being in business throughout lockdowns and government restrictions it is easy to get caught up with all the things that are out of our control rather than concentrate on positive things that we can do.

#1 Learn to LOVE your Website

This is the No.1 secret weapon for your business.

With so much out of your control, so much uncertainty and no guarantees for the future our top tip is to concentrate on your online presence and learn to love your website.

If you already have a website for your business, then now is the ideal opportunity to take a good long look at it and see where it can be improved.

Firstly, is your website up to date?

You will be surprised by how many business owners set up a website and then never update it.

Your website needs to work for you and right now it is probably the most important asset in your business. It is your shop window available to all your customers 24/7 from the comfort of their sofa during lockdown.

Does your website have information about changes in place since covid-19? What are you doing to help your customers continue using your business? Are you currently closed but offering delivery? Again, we see so many businesses posting on facebook that they are open to take orders for delivery, but they forget to do the same for their website. It is time to give your website some LOVE and get the important updates sorted straight away!

Secondly how user friendly is your website?

Try answering these questions honestly to find out.

• Is your website easy for your customers to use?

Customers have a short attention span, and they need to find the information they are looking for quickly and easily.

• How does it look on mobile phone?

A website that looks good on a phone is essential.

• what first impression do your customers have?

Technology has moved on and the great website you had 5 years ago will probably be looking dated by now if you have not invested time and attention to it since. You may still like your website but what do potential new customers think?

• Look at your local competitors’ website, how does yours compare?

If you have answered these questions and think you could do with a few improvements but do not know where to begin then get in touch and we can help create a plan for you.

Working on a new improved version of your website behind the scenes can be done in a development environment. This means that your existing website can stay exactly where it is (updated with all the changes from part 1 obviously) whilst we work our magic on an updated version for you.

If you do not have a website – then you probably need one right now – Get in touch and we can help you get started.

#2 Communicate, Communicate, Communicate

The secret is to change your marketing in a subtle way to fit the situation – switch from obvious selling mode to showing how you can be of help.

For this, it is important to understand what your customer needs help with.

What services or products do you sell that can be easily adapted to fit a need?

Once you know the answers you need to shout it from the roof tops – tell everyone you can about what you have to offer.

Communicate – See #1 …. via your lovely website
Communicate - via email marketing.
Communicate - via social media channels.
Communicate – Pick up the phone.

Shhh do not tell everyone but...

#3 now is the perfect time to invest in digital marketing.

Think about it for a minute….

The whole world is inside and online so reaching your customers needs to be online.

The tendency during recessions or uncertain times however is to cut back on marketing spend which means that while your competitors are being cautious and quiet there is an ideal opportunity for you to invest in some effective marketing. It may seem counterintuitive but recessionary periods provide fertile grounds to grow brands if you are prepared to think long-term.
